Dinosauroid by Kronosaurus82 Dinosauroid by Kronosaurus82
:icondonotplz::iconusemyartplz:

Titolo - Dinosauroid
Tratto - Matita B
Colore - Digitale
Software - Adobe Photoshop CS4
Hardware - Macintosh MacPro
Originale - Matita su carta - 14x22
Data - febbraio 2010

Title - Dinosauroid
Ink - B pencil
Color - Digital
Software - Adobe Photoshop CS4
Hardware - Macintosh MacPro
Original - Pencil on Paper - 14x22
Date - February 2010

This plate will be published on the 6th – and last – book of the series "Dinosaurs", out after the summer. It's the famous Dinosauroid, theorized by Dale Russell at the beginning of the 1980s. I tried to "update" it adding some feathers and a camouflage.

Yeah, like it's got a little bit of primate mixed in its reptilian homeland.

ahhh...gli anni 80.
tornassero...

No, hai ragione, fanno solo remake e seguiti inutili. Me ne lamento spesso anche io.

I think the posture is what ruins the plausibility more than anything.

Well, actually even our early "grampa" monkey was a quadrupedal animal whom held its back parallel to the ground. But evolution made us stand on our feet with our backs held vertically. :)

True, but we weren't as limited by a stiff tail, being a biped, etc. Becoming erect for a dinosaur wouldn't really be necessary.

We aren't just bipedal, we are "erect". Anyway, these are just hypothesis, so who knows.

That's what I mean, we're fully erect, theropods were already bipedal without being erect, so there would be no real reason for them to become even more erect. For all we know though, they could become totally quadrupedal, it's all just speculative.

Totally quadrupedal it's not possible, because one of the main points of this theory is the ability to manipulate tools, something a quadrupedal can't do. :)

I've always thought that Dale Russell's dinosauriod could exist after i read Dougal Dixon's the new dinosaurs, i thought that the tree climbing dinosaurs could evolve a lot of ape-like characteristics (losing tail, flatter face, etc...) and like humans they could return from the trees to the ground

Well done!

You make him almost seem huggable despite being saurian (and anyone has owned a large pet reptile or known someone who owned one knows that some species of reptiles are more physically affectionate than most people realize!), a rare touch.

Grazie per i complimenti. :)
