Titolo - Argentinosaurus model sheet 1
Tratto - Matita B
Colore - Digitale
Software - Photoshop CS
Hardware - Macintosh G5
Originale - Matita su carta
Data - inverno 2008

Character model sheet made in 2008 for Chiara Belleelo, artist who made the drawings for the comics in volumes 4 and 5 in my Dinosaurs series. This is for the 5th book, set in Argentina.

Argentinosaurus huinculensis, one of the largest dinosaurs ever: it was almost 40m/131ft long (maybe even more!) and 80/100 tons heavy. An adult Argentinosaurus didn't have any natural enemy. Their back was armored with a lot of keeled bone disks, similar to rose spines, set on more or less regular rows and surrounded by many other bone disks, smaller and rounded.
Until a dozen of years ago we thought that Sauropod's nostrils were on their forehead, just where the narial fossae is; but recent studies have proofed that the external nostrils (the fleshy ones) were quite far rostralmost on their snouts.
